Julieanne White, DORS Rehabilitation Specialist (Glen Burnie Office) with her 2011 BIAMD Partnership for Independence Professional Award.
Julieanne is a technical specialist in the area of brain injury and works with the DORS Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) program. Many of the consumers with whom she she works require a lot of her time and support in order to sustain their employment.
Julieanne was nominated by Laurie Elinoff, Maryland State Rehabilitation Council member and Vice Chair of the Statewide Independent Living Council (MSILC).
Recently, Laurie had firsthand experience working with Julieanne when one of her family members suffered a severe stroke. “It is a pleasure working with [Julieanne]. She is very responsive and she even answers her phone directly... Julieanne goes the extra mile in every way to work with each individual.”
This individual attention is all the more impressive because Julieanne has one of the largest ABI caseloads in the state.
She takes this large caseload in stride, “I like it…it keeps me thinking all the time!”
Julieanne’s busy schedule almost made her miss the awards ceremony. “I was supposed to be out of the office that day, so they had to tell me [about the award]… I was very surprised to learn that I won once I heard that there were so many nominations!”
Congratulations to Julieanne for receiving this well-deserved award. Her dedication to helping consumers with brain injuries explore their interests and potential is exemplary.
