The Jobs

The majority of job openings in DORS are for vocational rehabilitation specialists, disability claims examiners and clerical/support staff. There are other professional positions available in the fields of medical therapy, skilled trades and consumer services.

Most DORS professionals have college degrees in Human Services, Rehabilitation or Special Education. Obtaining a Master's degree is required for advancement to journeyman status offices that provide direct rehabilitation services.

Internships

Internships for qualified college or post-graduate students in field offices, the WTC, OBVS and the DDS are possible. The Staff Development Staff Specialist in DORS Administrative offices coordinates all internships.

Testing

Many clerical, technical and support staff positions require testing by the Maryland State Department of Budget and Management, Office of Personnel Services and Benefits. Once tested, applicants are placed on an eligibility list for future openings.

For information about employment with other state agencies, visit the Department of Budget and Management website or call 410-767-4013.
