Workforce & Technology Center
Baltimore, Maryland

DORS Rehabilitation Technology Services (RTS) is a leader in technology services that help a person get or keep a job or stay independent in his or her home and community.

RTS's staff solves problems for people who have limitations in communication, mobility, vision and thinking.

They use principles of engineering, computer technology and science to build or modify equipment so that people with disabilities can take part in physical rehabilitation, education, employment, transportation and independent living. These could include computers, ergonomic workstations, and mobility aids.

Adaptive Microcomputer Unit designs solutions for people who need non-traditional ways of accessing computers. For example, people with cerebral palsy and strokes may require alternate keyboards, adapted mice and head-pointing devices.

Specialized Career Unit provides academic and career evaluations for people who require special technologies to complete testing.

Design & Fabrication Unit will develop custom devices or modify commercial products to allow people with disabilities to be more productive or independent at work and at home.

Adaptive Driving Unit provides evaluations of driving potential, prescriptions for adaptive driving equipment and driver training in a modified vehicle. The unit provides assistance with MVA exam preparation and Medical Advisory Board approval.
