DORS rehabilitation counselors are experts in disability, employment and independent living issues! DORS also has counselors and rehabilitation teachers who specialize in services to people who are blind or visually impaired.

They provide job and career information as well as the facts about training and education requirements. They know what jobs exist in the community. They are familiar with career trends and help people make informed choices about the future.

DORS offices offer consumers access to a variety of resources to assist them with career planning, program choices and job search activities.

Once eligible for services, DORS counselors assist participants in writing the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE), which outlines the steps needed for an individual to reach a job goal.

Rehabilitation counselors can also help identify community resources that support people who want to live and work independently.
