Office Technology – Administrative Professional

Career Information
Perform a variety of duties requiring knowledge of computers/office management systems and procedures.  Clerical duties may be assigned including a combination of answering telephones, scheduling appointments, filling out forms, bookkeeping, typing or word processing, office machine operation and maintaining organized files.

Length of Course
This 24-week course includes classroom instruction and intensive hands-on computer training in one of three individualized training options/tracks (to be identified prior to or during the pre-admission conference, based on the IPE):

The Office Technology – Customer Service training program component is provided during the first six weeks; successful completion is required prior to continuation to the individualized training option/track.

Admission Qualifications
For consideration for the Office Technology – Administrative Professional training program (Office Technology – Customer Service plus one of the individualized training options/tracks), a consumer must have completed high school/GED and meet the recommended 8th grade academic level or higher.

Employment Outlook
Administrative professionals are in demand, with a projected growth of 13% or higher between now and 2016.  The average wage in Maryland is $12.92 per hour.
