Career InformationTire, oil and lubrication specialists mount, balance and repair tires; change oil/other fluids; lubricate suspension and repair mechanical systems. Entry-level workers typically start as helpers or apprentices.
Students who successfully complete the requirements for the Tire, Oil and Lube training will receive additional booklets and other training material in preparation to take the required examination to receive their Tire Certification.
Length of CourseThis 12-week course includes videos, lectures, guided classroom discussion and extensive hands-on experience.
Admission QualificationsA copy of the consumer's driving record must be provided prior to admission to the program. If the individual has more than two points on his/her driving record, admission may only be granted upon special review by the Center administration. That review would include examining the type of violation(s), date of violation(s), and when the points would be removed from the individual's driving record.
The consumer must possess the ability to constantly bend; strenuously exert oneself; lift up to 50 pounds; and have good hand dexterity and mobility. Individuals interested in automotive training who report criminal conviction(s) will be required to secure a criminal background check.
Employment OutlookJob opportunities are expected to continue to grow at a steady pace through the year 2014. Those who have completed automotive training programs will have many employment opportunities in Maryland.
