Individuals who have problems in memory, problem solving, decision making, and executive functioning may be referred to the cognitive strategy group. Consumers with any disability may be considered. The objectives are to improve memory, thinking skills, and social skills.
The group is a two-hour session offered once a week and is led by a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
Topics include teaching memory strategies and compensations such as verbal mnemonics, the use of memory prostheses, electronic organizers and checklists. The group discusses strategies to improve problem solving, decision making, organization and learning.
