Adaptive Driving

The Adaptive Driving program evaluates and trains individuals with disabilities to drive and obtain a driver’s license from the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). The instructors discuss with the individuals the differences in the procedures for new drivers and previously licensed drivers.

The staff will talk with you, your DORS counselor and/or family about:

Whether a special license is required.
The time needed to obtain a license.
The role of the MVA Medical Advisory Board.
What help DORS can provide in preparing an individual for the Learner’s Permit, and/or the driving test.
Where testing and/or training can take place.
What type of testing is administered, and what the equipment looks like.
