Vehicle Modifications

State licensed evaluators and instructors provide detailed adaptive driving equipment evaluations and prescriptions. DORS counselors can also consider the needs of non-driving individuals.

Here are examples of topics that DORS staff will talk with you and/or family about:

Is the individual with a disability a driver or passenger?
What vehicle is more appropriate – full size van, mini-van, or car?
What driving and secondary controls will be needed?
What modifications are available, and who pays the costs?
How long will it take to complete the modifications?
