Questions about WTC

How can I attend the Workforce & Technology Center (WTC)?

People who attend the Workforce & Technology Center must be referred by a rehabilition professional. In most cases, this is the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) Rehabilitation Counselors, who are located in DORS field offices throughout the state.  Other places, such as insurance companies or the Department of Veterans Affairs, may also refer you to WTC.

What does it cost to attend WTC?

There is a sliding scale based on family income for most DORS and WTC services.  DORS provides certain WTC services at no charge.  A DORS counselor can explain more about how costs are decided.

What determines if I stay in the dormitories at WTC?

WTC serves citizens from across the state.  You and your rehabilitation counselor will decide if you can best meet your career and personal needs by living at the WTC.  Factors such as distance, transportation and family issues are considered when making decisons about residence at WTC.

If I stay at WTC, can I leave the building?

You are free to leave the building after your program day ends, providing that you adhere to all rules and regulations. Certain residential programs have an 11:00 pm curfew.  The Center is closed on the weekends, therefore students are required to leave by 7 pm on Fridays and may return on Sundays at 5 pm or after.

We ask that new students do not arrive at WTC on Sunday.

Are there any fees to use the WTC recreation facilities?

Recreation programs are available to both dormitory and commuting students at no charge.

Why do I need to wear a badge?

Your badge lets security staff know that you are authorized to be in the facility.  Your badge is also your meal ticket.  WTC wants to ensure the comfort and safety of all residents and staff.

When do classes start?

For most programs, training starts when there is an opening in that class.  This allows a student to advance at his or her own rate of speed, and to receive special services such as tutoring if necessary.

Can I tour WTC?

Tours are held every Tuesday at 10 am and Thursday at 2 pm, except during holidays and severe weather.  No reservation is required.  You can call 410-554-9459 or 888-200-7117 for more information or to request special accommodations.
