Deaf & Hard of Hearing Assessment

A man and a woman sign in a career assessment lab.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Assessments will help you learn more about your strengths and needs to make good choices about your job and independent living goals.

Academic Testing—WTC teachers who know sign language will test your English, reading and math skills. They will help you see if you can enter college or training immediately or if you need further tutoring.

Deaf Pre-employment Services—A WTC rehabilitation teacher for the deaf will work with you to see if you have the skills to find and keep a job.

Audiological Testing—A WTC audiologist will check to see if there has been a change in your hearing, evaluate your hearing aid, test your speech reading and other communication skills.  This helps you and your DORS counselor know how your hearing loss will affect your success in training or on the job.

Career Assessment Services— Staff in WTC Career Assessment Services use interviews, paper and pencil testing and work samples help you make decisions about job goals. You will be assigned to a career assessment specialist who knows how to work and communicate with people who are deaf.
