Vocational rehabilitation programs and services help people with disabilities go to work.
The Social Security Administration wants people who receive Social Security disability benefits to be able to return to work if they choose.
Many people have concerns about how working will affect Social Security benefits and healthcare coverage. The Ticket to Work and Work Incentive Improvement Act of 1999 was designed to help people:
Under the Ticket to Work program, the Social Security Administration gives beneficiaries a "Ticket" that can be assigned to a public vocational rehabilitation program (like Maryland DORS) or to an "Employment Network" (EN) of their choice. ENs are approved by SSA to provide the special services needed by people with disabilities who want to work. Social Security has hired a company called Maximus to administer the Ticket to Work program.
