재활 상담사들은 장애를 가지신 분들이 직업상담, 재활 보조 기구 (assistive technology), 직업 훈련, 고등교육 그리고 직업소개 등과 같은 서비스들을 받으실 수 있도록 돕고있습니다. 상담사들은 메릴랜드 전역의 20여개 지역사무실에 있는 현장 서비스 사무실(Office of Field Services ) 혹은 맹인&시각 장애인 서비스 사무실(Office for Blindness & Vision Services (OBVS))을 위해서 일하고 있습니다. 대부분의 상담사들은고등학생들을 잘 도울 수 있도록 특별히 훈련되어 있습니다.
재활 상담사들은 종종 신청인들이 자신들에게 맞는 프로그램에 참여할 수 있도록 신청인들을 지역재활프로그램으로 위탁하기도 합니다. 또한 볼티모어 동북에 위치하고있는 노동인력 기술센터(WTC)에 참여하기를 권하기도 합니다. WTC 는 직업 적성검사와 상담, 직업훈련및 직업 찾기 그리고 다른 여러가지 서비스로 신청인을 돕고 있습니다. 서비스 이용을 위해 많은 분들이 WTC로 통학을 하기도 하고 센터 안에 위치한 기숙사에 머물기도 합니다.
What We Do
Rehabilitation counselors help people with disabilities obtain services such as career counseling, assistive technology, training, higher education and job placement and more. These counselors work for the Office of Field Services and the Office for Blindness &Vision Services in over 20 community offices throughout Maryland. Many of these counselors are specially trained to work with high school students.
Rehabilitation counselors often refer consumers to community rehabilitation programs for the programs they may need. They may also suggest attending the Workforce & Technology Center (WTC), located in northeast Baltimore. WTC helps people with career testing and counseling, job training, job placement and other services. Many people commute to WTC, while others stay in on-site dormitories.
