ACE Program helps college-bound students make the grade

High school juniors and seniors who are blind or have a significant vision loss and plan to attend college can learn more about academic life during the upcoming All About College Exploration (ACE) program.

The two-week-long ACE program is led by staff members from DORS Office for Blindness & Vision Services, many of whom also have vision loss. The program helps high school students to explore career options, visit local colleges and learn how assistive computer and vision technologies can help students find success. The small group setting allows for peer support and information exchange.

The ACE program will begin on July 13, 2009 and conclude on July 24, 2009.  Students may commute daily or reside at the Workforce & Technology Center (WTC) and return home on the weekends.

To be eligible for the ACE program, a student must have been found eligible for DORS servcies, have a significant vision impairment, plan to attend college and have a high school record to support this goal. For more information, contact the DORS counselor assigned to the high school student who is interested in attending.
