Harford County Sheriff Jesse Bane was the keynote speaker at the Workforce & Technology Center’s April graduation, reminding students who have completed their training programs “Dreams will give you a purpose in life. Too many people have given up on their dreams.”
WTC holds a graduation ceremony on the last Thursday of each month and invites a diverse selection of individuals to provide send-off remarks.
Sheriff Bane told the graduates about his older brother who has a severe disability resulting from a birth injury. “My first memories are of his persistence at doing what others were able to do more easily,” said Sheriff Bane. Today, his brother is a Special Olympic athlete, a long-time local government employee and lives on his own.
“My brother had a dream," said Sheriff Bane. “Nothing in the world could stand in his way.”
This month, graduates represented these WTC programs: Academic Services, Environmental Services, Food Service, Office Technology/Customer Service, Office Technology/Administrative Professional and automotive technology. Graduation ceremonies are open to the public and begin at 10:00 a.m.
