(l to r) Jean Jackson (WTC Director) with Jarleen Matagolai, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI); WTC security guard Leroy Tunstall; Margartia R. Olopai-Taitano, Director CNMI; Dyenina Diaz (CNMI); Sandi DiGennaro, WTC. Recently, the director and two staff members from the VR agency in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands visited the Workforce & Technology Center. (The Northern Mariana Islands, a commonwealth in political union with the US, are located in the North Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the Philippines.)
Despite the 7797 miles or 6776 nautical miles between Maryland and the Mariana Islands, the VR program operates with many similarities, since the Rehabilitation Act provides both the vision and policy oversight to all states and territories. Every US state and territory operates a public vocational rehabilitation (VR) program.
Jean Jackson, WTC’s director provided a tour of the Center to the visiting agency director, Margarita R. Olopai-Taitano, and two members of her staff, Dyenina Diaz and Jarleen Matagolai.
