General Disability Resources

Disability.gov is the federal government's one-stop Web site for people with disabilities, their families, employers, veterans and service members, workforce professionals and many others. A collaborative effort among federal agencies, Disability.gov connects people with disabilities to the information and resources they need to actively participate in the workforce and in their communities.

The Maryland Workforce Promise is a state-wide resource center that helps individuals with disabilities overscome many of the barriers to employment with classroom training, information & referral, online resources and technical assistance. The Disability Navigator Program serves as a resource to the State's One-Stop Career Center staff, business and disability communities.

The Harford County Commission on Disabilities advocates for local citizens with disabilities by assessing their needs, supporting programs that improve quality of life and encouraging community participation. The Commission's Web site offers an extensive collection of links to local, state and federal resources

The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington, the largest local prevention of blindness agency in the United States, is dedicated to the improvement and preservation of sight by providing services, education, advocacy and innovation.  POB provides nearly 8,000 low-income and homeless persons with eyeglasses and sponsors the Aging Eye Network, the Macular Degeneration Network and Stargardt's Network that provide public programs and support groups.
