Independent Living Services

Independent Living (IL) Services are rehabilitation services for people who do not have an employment goal, but who want to be more independent at home and in the community.

IL Core Services:

  1. Information & Referral, e.g. "Who provides attendant care in Maryland?"

  2. IL Skills Training, e.g. "My child with a disability needs help learning how to complete a budget."

  3. Peer Counseling, e.g. "I need help in adjusting to my disability."

  4. Individual and Systems Advocacy, e.g. "I want to learn how to ask for accommodations."

IL Assistive Technology Services

This includes basic technology services that make it easier to get around and communicate with others. Examples are ramps, stair glides, vehicle lifts for a wheelchair, hearing aids, hand controls, spinner knobs, etc.
