Our website guides individuals with disabilities to employment and independent living services.  Maryland's employers can find prescreened, qualified job applicants.  DORS also serves Maryland citizens who file Social Security disability claims.  We invite you to contact us with your comments.

DORS offers no-cost online job announcements for Maryland employers
(February 23, 2010) Maryland employers can now post position announcements on a free job order Web page provided by DORS. The page will automatically forward the announcements to over 25 statewide business services specialists who are assisting pre-screened, qualified individuals with disabilities to find employment.
Harford County Expo for Transitioning Youth
(February 12, 2010) Harford County's Expo for Transitioning Youth will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010. The Expo is a free conference for teens and young adults with special needs and their families facing the challenges and opportunities of transition to adulthood. Workshops on topics such as finding a summer job, support for students with disabilities at Harford Community College, how to apply for a Federal job, and how to keep Social Security benefits while working, will be available, along with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives of vendors, agencies, organizations, and support groups that provide services to persons with disabilities.
Seven Maryland non-profits to develop employment programs for underserved individuals with disabilities
(November 12, 2009) DORS has awarded grants to seven community non-profit programs that help people with disabilities go to work. DORS awarded the grants, which are funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, to agencies who agreed to target to individuals with disabilities who have traditionally been underserved.
Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities honors Towson DORS Counselor
(November 3, 2009) The Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities recognized Henry Sanfilippo (DORS, Towson) with the 2009 Employee Advocate Award. Henry was one of 13 individuals honored at the recent awards lunch, which took place in Hunt Valley, MD. A large group of disability advocates, families and local elected officials was on hand for the awards.
