Our website guides individuals with disabilities to employment and independent living services.  Maryland's employers can find prescreened, qualified job applicants.  DORS also serves Maryland citizens who file Social Security disability claims.  We invite you to contact us with your comments.

DDS Trainer Honored with SSA Citation
(July 21, 2010) DDS Training Department Director Cheryl Hann’s talent and hard work have come to the attention of the highest levels of the Social Security Administration. Cheryl was named as a recipient of the 2009 DDS Honor Award, a national level award, and she will be receiving the SSA Associate Commissioner’s Citation for her exceptional work training new disability claims examiners.
DORS Seeks Providers of Independent Living Services for Older Individuals who are Blind
(July 1, 2010) DORS is soliciting proposals from qualified applicants to provide comprehensive independent living services for older individuals who are blind and visually impaired. Deadline for submission is Friday, July 30, 2010.
DORS and Baltimore City Public Schools Kick Off Innovative Partnership
(June 28, 2010) Twenty Baltimore City public school students with disabilities will be getting an extra boost on their journey as they transition from high school to careers or post-secondary education thanks to an innovative public/private partnership between the Maryland State Department of Education’s Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), Baltimore City Public Schools and TransCen Inc.
WTC Students Raise $500 for Haiti
(May 27, 2010) Workforce & Technology Center students organized a bake sale that raised $500.00 to benefit the people of Haiti.
Mission to be Accomplished
(May 18, 2010) Danielle was born without upper and lower arms and has other physical disabilities that require her to use a wheelchair for mobility. She is an outstanding example of a student who has used technology to overcome the barriers to fully participate in her education. Danielle will begin her college career at Bucknell in the fall. DDS Supervisor Leads the Way to Quality Service
(April 16, 2010) The National Association of Disability Examiners recognized Diana Stashik as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Supervisor of the Year at its recent Tri-Regional Training Conference in Charleston, SC.
